I worked as a clinical hospital dietitian for over 6 years where I met with patients who suffered from debilitating, chronic, yet largely preventable conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease and fatty liver disease – all of which are influenced, for better or for worse, by diet and lifestyle.
Day in and day out, I saw firsthand the immense impact our food and lifestyle choices have on our overall health. Most days I walked out of work grateful for the gift of being able to take the stairs or simply just stand long enough to chop my own veggies for dinner.
I’ve also had my feet in the “health influencer” world for a while. With that I’ve seen how diet culture has absolutely destroyed our relationship with food and our bodies. We live in a culture that values being “skinny” over actually supporting how the body functions, and it’s cost us big time: from hormone imbalances and being out of touch with hunger cues, to lacking confidence and basing our worth on how we look or eat.
What I’ve seen and experienced personally and professionally over the last 10+ years in both the medical and wellness setting is that we don’t need more complex strategies, we simply need to get back to the fundamentals that support how the body is meant to function and honor all aspects of wellness. Conventional healthcare has the fundamentals all wrong (just eat less, move more, and take the medication!), and diet culture has skipped over them completely because they aren’t sexy enough. As a result, the pursuit of health is more frustrating and complicated than ever before…
We do it differently here. Whether you’re a busy mom, young professional, or an empty nester, our goal is to show you how much more there is to health (and life!) when you instead choose to focus on prioritizing fundamental, daily practices that support your body’s natural functioning. We know this approach leads to more joy, greater consistency, and lasting results in your health (including better hormone balance, body composition, blood sugar levels, and appetite regulation), and we want you to experience all of that!
That’s why Redemptive Health exists. My aim is to provide practical and refreshing nutrition coaching that equips you to reach your health goals without sacrificing your soul, and that also honors your unique values and preferences. We’re changing the narrative that is traditionally found in both the medical and wellness spaces, so the pursuit of better health is finally seen as a gift, and not a measuring tool of value or worth.
