Meet Clara

FOUNDER OF REDEMPTIVE HEALTH, CHRIST FOLLOWER, DIETITIAN, PERSONAL TRAINER, HAS-BEEN CHEERLEADER.

I can quote The Parent Trap verbatim and I’m a stickler for being in bed by nine, but my biggest passion lies in helping people like you detach their worth from their wellness and learn how to steward their health in a way that is sustainable, enjoyable, and meaningful to them, so they can feel their best and run the race set before them. I’m so glad you’re here!

Prioritizing your health should enhance your life, not engulf it.

But I know more often than not, prioritizing your health ends up feeling overwhelming, confusing, and like your worth is on the line. I know, because I’ve experienced it firsthand.

I spent years consumed by constant thoughts of food and fitness, yet felt like I lacked motivation, consistency, and willpower — always sabotaging my efforts and starting again on Monday. My genuine enjoyment of nutrition and movement had been stripped from me, I was drowning in negative body image, and I got wrapped up in trying to do #allthethings yet still didn’t reach my goals.

Outwardly I looked healthy, but inside I felt alone, hopeless, and fearful that I’d never be able to break free from the cycle of guilt, shame, and regret. And this was all while I was in school studying to become a dietitian, no less.

I knew God had called me to a life of freedom, so why did I feel like I was living in bondage?

The change came once I realized I’d made an idol out of health, thinking it would provide the satisfaction and security I longed for. I’d fallen prey to the lie that my identity, worth, and satisfaction would be found in how I looked, rather than it being deeply rooted in Christ.

But, as I started to change my mindset, my motives, and the messages I surrounded myself with, my health journey started to be marked by grace, compassion, and stewardship instead of guilt, condemnation and slavery. The health practices that once felt like legalism now felt like liberty, and my mind was free to start exploring other avenues of health I’d previously overlooked and undervalued.

What I experienced was a simple yet deeply impactful and meaningful way of living that led to better health physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I knew this was something that I had to share with as many people as I could, and thus, Redemptive Health was born.

At Redemptive Health, we strive to provide a welcoming and refreshing environment that serves as a trusted source of practical wellness education, support, and encouragement. We recognize that health is multidimensional, therefore we focus on holistic approaches that support your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. We also understand that health exists along a spectrum, meaning it can look many different ways – no one size fits all thinking here!

We walk alongside our members as they learn how to embrace their inherent value while cultivating holistic, meaningful, everyday wellness practices that support their health and enhance their life so they can finally feel their best.

We currently offer monthly membership, 1:1 coaching, and meal planning services.

Our Partnership with
Wellspring Direct Primary Care

Wellspring Direct Primary Care was started by Dr. Hite, a family physician, in July of 2021 and offers a refreshing alternative to your physican, honest pricing that saves people money, and practical strategies to improve overall health. With a continued desire to provide more for his patients, Dr. Hite brought me on in January as the dietitian and health coach. From day one at Wellspring, I was able to step into a position that impacts lives through education, support, and resources focused on true whole person care. It’s out of this partnership that Redemptive Health launched and together we continue to equip patients with the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to take control of their health.

WE'RE CHANGING THE NARRATIVE...JOIN US?

I worked as a clinical hospital dietitian for over 6 years where I met with patients who suffered from debilitating, chronic, yet largely preventable conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease and fatty liver disease – all of which are influenced, for better or for worse, by diet and lifestyle.

Day in and day out, I saw firsthand the immense impact our food and lifestyle choices have on our overall health. Most days I walked out of work grateful for the gift of being able to take the stairs or simply just stand long enough to chop my own veggies for dinner.

I’ve had my feet in the “health influencer” world for a while as well. With that I’ve seen how diet culture has absolutely ravaged our relationship to food and our bodies. We live in a culture that values being “skinny” over actually supporting how the body functions, and it’s cost us big time, from hormone imbalances and being out of touch with hunger cues, to lacking confidence and basing our worth on how we look or eat.

What I’ve seen and experienced personally and professionally over the last 10+ years in both the medical and wellness setting is that we don’t need more complex strategies, we just need to get back to the fundamentals that support how the body is meant to function and honor all aspects of wellness. Conventional healthcare has the fundamentals all wrong, and diet culture has skipped over them completely because they aren’t sexy enough. As a result, the pursuit of health is more frustrating and complicated than ever before…

We do it differently here. Whether you’re a busy mom, young professional, or an empty nester, our goal is to show you how much more there is to health (and life!) when you instead choose to focus on prioritizing fundamental, daily practices that support your body’s natural functioning. We know this approach leads to more joy, greater consistency, and lasting results in your health (including better hormone balance, body composition, blood sugar levels, and appetite regulation), and we want you to experience all of that!

While I’ll never shy away from sharing how impactful it is care for your physical body, know that it’s about so much more than just that. Health is multidimensional, encompassing our emotional, mental, and spiritual health as well as the physical. Even more, our unique family of origin, past experiences, relationships, and beliefs and attitudes all play a pivotal role in our health, and can’t be overlooked. What good is it to gain “ultimate health” yet lose your soul, zest for life, close relationships, and enjoyment of food along the way?

That’s what Redemptive Health is all about. We’re here to provide practical and refreshing health coaching education that equips you to reach your health goals without sacrificing your soul, and that also honors your unique values and preferences. We are changing the narrative that is traditionally found in both the medical and wellness industries, so the pursuit of better health is finally seen as a gift, and not a measuring tool of value or worth. If you’re ready for a refreshing, relatable, and redemptive approach to health, then look no further.

well, you made it this far, so what do you say...

Pro tips to help you maximize your membership :)

  1. Download and/or print out the monthly focus topic guide. Schedule time to read through it. It doesn’t need to take up a lot of time, but think of it like a deposit or investment for your future self. You are choosing to learn how to care for and steward your body…it’s worth the time!
  2. Be willing and ready to apply the information with an open mind. Remember, we aren’t just absorbing information…we’re implementing it, to experience transformation. If you’ve ever been overwhelmed with where or how to start…THIS IS IT! I’m literally giving you a framework and action steps to take. You don’t have to do everything in it’s entirety, but you do need to do SOMETHING…and you can!
  3. If you can’t do it all, DO SOMETHING SMALL! You don’t have to implement 100% of the content to see change and improvements in your health. Each action you take compounds. 40% effort is better than 0%.
  4. Confused? Ask questions!! Take every opportunity to ask questions to gain clarity or direction…that’s what you’re here for, right? Be an active participant – I can’t do the work for you, but I’m here to guide and direct!
  5. Remember: have FUN with this. Your health is a gift that you are meant to ENJOY, not feel enslaved to. If you aren’t having fun, it’s probably a good sign that you need to reassess your motives and where you’re placing your focus. We celebrate our bodies around here.

getting started:

New around here? Welcome! Check out some helpful tips on how to get started, below!

  1. Say hi and introduce yourself: in the Facebook group, you’ll find a pinned post where you can introduce yourself and say hi to the group! Use this group to post questions, workout or nutrition wins, takeaways from the trainings, or encouragements for others. Don’t have Facebook? You can create a “ghost account” to use only for the group if you want to be a part of it…we’d love to have you!
  2. Familiarize yourself with the membership portal: things should be fairly simple to navigate. Monthly content will be found in that months module. All other content will be found in the resource bank.
  3. Download your resources: download, print, and/or save the focus topic guides, recipe collections, and workouts to your phone for easy access at the start of each month. *PRO TIP: I suggest printing out the focus topic guides each month to create your own personal wellness manual*
  4. Plan time to read, reflect, and implement: you don’t need to spend hours on this content!! Don’t worry about “falling behind” – it’s intended to serve you as a resource as you see fit, but I do suggest carving out time at the start of the month to read through the guide and complete the beginning of the month questions, and then time at the end of the month to reflect as well. Week to week you can schedule short check-in periods to make sure you’re still dialed in to the habit or topic.
